- 1 avocado
- ½ lime or lemon
- ½ onion (small)
- 1-2 clove garlic
- 4-5 sprigs parsley
- 1 small pepper (preferably jalapeño)
- 1 small tomato (seedless, optional)
- 1 pinch salt
Finely chop the onion, garlic, pepper and parsley.
Sprinkle salt on them and mix by crushing with a knife.
Cut the avocado in half lengthwise. Remove the pit by inserting a knife into the pit and twisting it. Remove the pit from the skin with a spoon. Mash the inside with a fork in a bowl until it becomes a puree. (It does not need to be a smooth puree. Leaving a slightly lumpy consistency will add texture to the sauce.)
Add the lime juice or lemon juice to the mashed avocado without waiting. This step not only adds flavor but also prevents the avocado from browning.
Add the vegetables to the avocado and mix.
