Ingredients:
- 2 kg quince (approx. 4.4 pounds)
- 2 kg granulated sugar
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 2 lt water
- 1/2 tsp butter (to prevent foaming)
- 10 cloves (optional but strongly recommended)
- Quince seeds (to give color)
Quince Jam Recipe
1.Step: Wash the quinces well, peel them and remove their seeds. Do not throw away the seeds, you can use them to add color to jam.
2.Step: Cut the quinces into cubes or any shape you like. Then place them in a pot.
3.Step: Add the sugar. Wrap the quince seeds in a tea brewing bag and place them in the pot. (If you don’t mind seeds in the jam, you can put them in without the bag.)
4.Step: Add enough water to cover the ingredients. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
5.Step: Once boiling, reduce the heat and cook until the quinces are soft. This process may take about 50-60 minutes.
6.Step: When it starts to reach the consistency of jam, add the lemon juice and butter. Butter prevents the jam from foaming and gives it a shiny appearance. After boiling for a few more minutes, remove from the stove.
***I got 6 jars (425cc small jars) of jam from this recipe.
When storing jam in a jar, you should follow these steps:
- While the jam is boiling hot, fill it into sterilized glass jars.
- After filling the jar, you should immediately close the lid tightly and turn it upside down to vacuum. This prevents the jam from getting air and ensures that it stays intact for a long time.
- After the jars have completely cooled, you can turn the top side up again. Make sure to store them in a cool, dark place.

Turkish Quince Jam Recipe: Tips
- Spices like cloves and cinnamon add extra flavor to the jam, you can add them if you want.
- It is very important to pay attention to the cooking time to make the jam just right. If you boil it too much, the jam will be too thick, if you boil it less, its consistency will be less.
- To make it last longer, put the jam in jars while it is hot. Close the lid tightly and vacuum it by turning it upside down.
What should be done to make quince jam red?
If you want the jam to be red in color, you should use the quince seeds as well.
My quince jam is watery, what should I do?
It is actually very easy to save watery jams. Keeping the jar open in the sun for 1-2 days will be enough for it to gain consistency. Leave the jam in the sun until it reaches the desired consistency.
