Guacamole Dip Recipe: How to Store?

Guacamole is easy to make, but storing the sauce requires some care. Because avocado contents quickly oxidize and darken when exposed to air. Here are some tips to help your guacamole sauce stay fresh and bright green:

1. Cover it with stretch film

Place the guacamole sauce you have prepared in a storage container and cover it with plastic wrap so that it touches the surface of the sauce directly. This method minimizes contact with air and prevents browning.

2. Add Lime or Lemon Juice

Adding plenty of lime or lemon juice to guacamole slows down oxidation. You can also pour a thin layer of lime juice or just water over the sauce during storage. Since avocado is high in oil, the water will remain on the surface without mixing. Just pour the water off before using.

3. Use Airtight Containers

Choose an airtight container to store the sauce. Be careful not to leave any air space at the top of the container when it is full. If you have vacuum-sealed containers, storing your guacamole sauce in a vacuum can prevent oxidation.

4. Store in Cold

Guacamole is best stored in the refrigerator. When stored properly, the sauce will usually stay fresh for 1-2 days. However, if you notice any discoloration on the surface, you can carefully scrape it off and discard it.
